In-person and Online Behavior Consultation
This service aims to equip parents and caregivers with the tools they need to weather challenging times. During these sessions, I work hand in hand with the family and/or team to create a plan with realistic goals and actionable steps towards improving the quality of parenting skills and family dynamics. This model is highly dependent on family participation to practice skills and strategies suggested. For extra support, the family may seek an aide to continue helping with the execution of the service plan.
I am accepting cases for families currently accessing services through FSCD.
Behavior Management
Behavior management is a short-term (3-6 months) intensive in-home service offered to families experiencing exceptional challenges with difficult behaviors. A behavior management plan is made with the family focusing on manageable goals based on the severity of problem behaviors. The behavior specialist works with both the child and family in this service model on a regular basis as determined by the initial plan. Individuals living with the child are expected to learn how to properly use effective strategies in dealing with challenging behaviors for long-term success.
Behavior management is accessed through self-referral and follows fee-for-service terms. This service is ideal for families who have tried different supports and desire more.
Play Skills Development
Play is the language of children! This service begins with helping you understand your child’s play behavior and teaches you how to play with your child. In this service model, we focus on building developmental play skills to help your child gain more skills, add to their interest repertoire, build awareness, and engage better with the world around him/her.
Play Skills Development is accessed through self-referral and follows fee-for-service terms. This service is ideal for families with children with ASD. Children who would most benefit from this program include those between ages 2-6 with atypical play behaviors, little/restricted play patterns, limited interest, and other developmental delays.
Peer Programs and Social Skills Groups
Developing the confidence and skills to interact and connect with peers is a challenge for some kiddos. Peer programs provide a safe environment for children to practice social skills and build connections with another friend. In this program, your child is carefully paired with another child (family has the option to choose a peer or be paired within another child chosen by the practitioner with consent of both families) whose personality and play skills are in line with one another. The children are guided through activities and experiences that help boosts their confidence in connecting with others. This service may be a part of your child’s goal strategy and offered through a funded contract, or parents may opt to join a program on their own.
Social skills groups are still in the makes and are a step further from Peer Programs.
